Abstract:

On historical exploration gallery in Mariánské údolí (Brno-Líšeň)

Historical exploration gallery in Brno-Líšeň was documented and measured in the framework of geological survey 1 : 25,000 of Brno township. According the local oral tradition, the gallery was digged 1844–45 in search for coal. The prospection was organised by three wealthy locals without knowledge about geology and minig. The obscure prospection in the Lower Carboniferous marine conglomerates (Kulm facies), of course, failed. Finally the gallery lacking the gravity drainage was flooded. Structural geology and petrography of gallery was newly investigated. Flooded part remains unaccessable due a cave-in.
