Abstract:

New finding of the soils in the National Park Podyjí focusing on the deposit of a humolites there (Moravia, Czech Republic)

Between 2014–2015 soil researches in the National Park Podyjí were performed. The primary interest in the researches was to verify the deposit of humolites (peat, fen) in the National Park Podyjí and to get detailed knowledges about the development of the soil and the landscape in the Holocene. The Holocene past time was researched on the site at Jejkala, where we found the Gleysols stagnic. The second site was not far from the Ice caves, where the Fluvisols gleyic was found out. Both the soil types are fallen into the Holocene whose climatic fluctuations are reflected partially. All of the soil profiles were recorded the warmer climatic phase of the Holocene according to the palynology. The most visible feature in the development of all of the soil profiles were the reduction processes, whose the changing height of the groundwater level are reflected. The changing of groundwater heigh level should related with a flood activity of the Dyje river in the upper Holocene and recent or with a human activity perhaps. We were come to the conclusion after the detailed field and laboratory research that there are no humolites in the National Park Podyjí. The soil profiles here are abundantly supplied with the nutrients and this is why they belong to the high quality forest soils. The very interesting discovery was the finding of grains of Triticum type in the soil profile J1, then the ash and the pebble of the graphite pottery, which could indicate the existence of a nearby human settlement.
