A review of wolframite mineralisation related to the Central Moldanubian pluton and orthogneiss bodies in Moldanubicum
Several Sn-W occurences were previously described in the Central Moldanubian pluton and its surroundings. This mineralisation occur in greisenized veins or quartz veins, connected directly to the pluton or its exocontact, including migmatized rocks in the close vicinity of the pluton. Other type includes (metamorphosed) greisens (presumably prevariscan) within the orthogneisses, occuring in the surroundings of the Central Moldanubian pluton. Scheelite occurences in the calc-silicate rocks are not a part of this review.
Some of these Sn-W occurences were previously explored as a possible Sn-W deposits, most recent studies are aimed towards mineralogical and genetic research. Most of the occurences are quite Sn-poor, despite the fact, that many polymetallic veins in the same area contain significant amount of Sn. Primary cassiterite is known only from Ovesna Lhota, other cassiterite occurences are known only from placers.
The prevailing ore mineral is ferberite with minor hubnerite and rare huanzalaite component, scheelite is much less abundant. Some rare Bi, Te, Mo phases were described recently, as well as rare secondary waylandite, petitjeanite and russelite. Associated minerals often include native bismuth, apatite, muscovite, tourmalines, garnet, gahnite and others. However, their relation to the tungsten mineralisation is uncertain.
