Abstract:

Surface gamma spectrometric measurements of exploration areas in localities Kraví Hora and Horka propřed for construction of a deep geological repository of radioactive waste

This paper focuses on the problem of finding a suitable location for a deep geological repository of radioactive waste. Several territories are considered for this purpose throughout Czech Republic. This research paper mostly focuses on surface monitoring of the concentration of radioactive elements at Kraví Hora and Horka areas, located in Moravia region. The values of elements K, U, Th and dose rate were measured by a portable gamma-ray spectrometer PGIS-128. The main goal of this research is to create a set of data which characterize the surface radioactivity of these localities before possible construction of a deep geological repository of radioactive waste.
