Abstract:

Silver-bearing Pb-Zn mineralization along eastern border of Moldanubian Pluton near Telč

Multiple occurrences of base-metal mineralization in massive and brecciated quartz veins are present along the eastern border of Central Moldanubian Pluton (CMP). The veins cross-cut the contact of CMP granites as well as surrounding cordierite-biotite migmatites of the Monotonous Unit. Main ore minerals include pyrite, arsenopyrite, sphalerite, galena and chalcopyrite; one occurrence of native silver was found. Hydrothermal quartz veins with silver-bearing galena and sphalerite (≤ 3000 ppm Ag) were mined in the 16th century at the locality Dobra Voda near Mrakotin. The last mining attempts were carried out between 1883 and 1885. Only prospection works were previously performed in disseminated sulphide mineralization present at Mrakotin-Čejkovna and Hostětice near Telč, which is poor in silver like several other locations in the near Telč surroundings. We present chemical analyzes of several ore minerals and one ore-bearing quartz vein.
