Geology of Paleozoic of the Litovelské Pomoraví Protected Area, Central Moravia
The area of interest represents isolated outcrops situated between the Jeseníky and Drahany part of the Paleozoic Moravian-Silesian basin. Petrological and mineralogical study of graywackes, namely of translucent heavy mineral assemblages show similarities with both Nízký Jeseník and Drahany psammitic Lower Carboniferous material. Thus the idea of one continuous large Lower Carboniferous basin is supported. The contemporary separated pattern is the result of later displacement along the tectonic zone of Haná (the continuation of the Elbe lineament).
