Abstract:

Contribution to the knowledge of provenance of pebbles from the Upper Viséean conglomerates in the Drahany Uplands: II. Calcite marbles

The clasts of three distinct types of calcite marbles were distinguished in the Luleč conglomerates, Drahany Uplands: graphite-bearing, (i) silicate-poor and (ii) silicate-rich calcite marbles, and (iii) graphite- free, silicate-poor calcite marbles. The clasts of graphite-bearing marbles (i) and (ii) suggest the presence of rocks from the Vranov and Olešnice Group in the Upper Viséan conglomerates. Provenance of (iii) graphite-free calcite marbles associated with phyllites in matrix of large clasts is very likely related to unspecified low-grade metamorphic unit.
