Abstrakt:

The first discovery of Glarichelys knorri (Gray), sea turtle (Cheloniidae) in the Oligocene of the Menilitic Beds in Moravia (Czechoslovakia)

A representative of the sea turtle was first discovered in the Menilitic Beds in Moravia in the assemblage of fishes at the Litenčice site. It is the third discovery of the sea turtle in the Menilitic Formation of the Carpathians (Poland, Rumania, Czechoslovakia); together with the presence of this species in the Oligocene of Western Europe (Switzerland, Glarus), this confirms that Glarichelys knorri (Gray) occurs in the fossil assemblages of sea fishes in the rather unique basin of the Oligocene of Europe.
