Abstract:

The cephalopods of the Cenomanian-Turonian boundary of the Prokop quarry, Březina near Moravská Třebová

A profile through Upper Cretaceous deposits outcropping at the end wall of the Prokop quarry at Březina is documented. In the glauconitic sandstones within the Cenomanian-Turonian boundary a fossiliferous bed of· condensation character was found, which, among other partially phosphatized macrofaunistic remains, contains also cephalopods. The cephalopods from the deposits mentioned and one ammonite species from the higher lying light spongilitic sandstones are the object of our systematic description, Ammonite species Lewesiceras peramplum, Sciponoceras cf. qracile, Morrowites michelobensis, Morrowites prokopensis n. sp. and the belemnite species Actinocamax (Praeacinocamax) plenus cf. plenus are documented
