Mineralogical localities at the Petřkovická hora Hill (cca 6.5 km SSW from Nový Jičín) are represented by both abandoned quarry near the top of the hill and several rock outcrops in the Stranický Potok Stream on the eastern slope of the hill. In the quarry a body of hydrothermally altered volcanic rock was exploited. In the stream several outcrops of teschenite association rocks in form of pillow lavas and dikes were uncovered by the flood in the June 2009. In both places, radial aggregates of white talc with admixture of magnesium silicate similar to “kerolite” in the veins and rock amygdales filled with younger calcite were discovered. Mineral clearly shows the change of 001 X-ray diffraction peak after treatment in ethylene glycol, when basal spacing shrinks from 9.65 Å to 9.17 Å. EDX analysis of kerolite is identical as of talc. The first undoubtful presence of the aragonite in the teschenite association rocks from the quarry was also confirmed.
