Bi tellurides from Vysoká near Havlíčkův Brod (Czech Republic)

A diverse association of Bi tellurides was found in hydrothermal quartz gangue at the Vysoká hill (587 m) near the Vysoká village, 6 km southest of Havlíčkův Brod, Czech Republic. The most abundant joséite-B forms aggregates, up to 500 μm in size, partly with relics of earlier native bismuth; microscopic inclusions of galena, baksanite and ehrigite were also observed. The chemical composition of joséite-B corresponds to the empirical formula (Bi_4.00Sb_0.04Pb_0.01)_Σ4.05Te_1.92S_1.03. Rare joséite-A was found as single grain up to 120 μm in size, with inclusions of joséite-B. Its empirical formula is (Bi_3.94Sb_0.02Pb_0.02)_Σ3.98Te_0.97S_2.04. Abundant ehrigite occurs as irregular grains, up to 150 μm in size, or aggregates enclosed together with native bismuth in joséite-B and elongated grains, up to 100 μm in length, in association with joséite-B and native bismuth. Its empirical formula is (Bi_7.74Sb_0.23Pb_0.03)_Σ8.00(Te_2.98S_0.02)_Σ3.00. Relatively rare hedleyite was found as irregular aggregates, up to 100 μm, its empirical formula is (Bi_6.93Sb_0.06Pb_0.01)_Σ7.00Te_3.00. Recently defined dulanggouite forms aggregates, up to 120 μm in length, or tiny grain relics together with joséite-B. Its empirical formula is (Bi_1.99Sb_0.02Pb_0.01)_Σ2.02Te_0.98. Baksanite ocurrs as irregular elongated aggregates up to 100 μm long, enclosed in joseite-B with relics of native bismuth. Its empirical formula is (Bi_5.83Pb_0.23Sb_0.05)_Σ6.11Te_1.69S_3.20.
