Zeolites from localities of the Czech Republic in the collection of the Moravian Museum, Brno

The collection of minerals and rocks of the Moravian Museum belongs to the one of the most important collections in the Czech Republic. Worth noticing is the part of the collection comprising zeolites from the Bohemian, Moravian and Silesian localities (3428 in total, 19 kinds of zeolites or zeolites series). Along with common types of zeolites also some rare ones are present in the collection (e.g. edingtonite, gismondine, offretite and paulingite). The quality of the samples is variable but it is predominately documentary which is applicable primarily for the Moravian-Silesian part of the collection. However, there are several high-quality samples mainly coming from the classic historical localities (e.g. Dolní Zálezly, Kozákov, Mariánská hora, Kočičí hlava u Velkého Března a Štětínov). The samples originate mostly from the collections of the well known collectors as E. Burkart, B. Kučera, T. Kruťa, J. Bakeš, Č. Růžička and others.
